Where we work

We counted the separate houses in every locality of the City of Gold Coast, 81 in all, and list the 59 with 300 or more. A suburb gets a page only where a government source says something about that suburb that changes the job, and only Southport passed.

One council, one set of rules

Every suburb we list is in the City of Gold Coast, so one City Plan applies to all of them. What differs from lot to lot is which mapped land its codes reach, and the City says its interactive mapping and the City Plan help decide whether a development application is needed.

Four suburbs on the map, and what the map does not say

Burleigh Waters, Carrara and Clear Island Waters were candidates for a page and did not get one: what the City's map gives for each is how much of the suburb it draws inside its flood assessment area, and that says where a layer is drawn, not what a rule requires of a lot. The table gives that share for the three and for Southport. It is a share of a suburb's area and says nothing about any one lot; the City's flood level search is the way to get a level for yours.
