The regulator says that where movement is more than the standard allows and is not caused by defective work or a lack of maintenance, it may engage an engineer to investigate further and propose a solution. That is what the regulator says it may do, and it is not an offer to inspect any house. Ask a provider what they found had moved, how they measured it, and what they will check afterwards.

The Building Act defines building work to include repairing, altering, underpinning and moving a building, and the City of Gold Coast says building approvals are issued by private building certifiers, not Council. A certifier can say whether a particular job needs one.
